Mulayam Singh Yadav ji was born on 22 November 1939 in Etawah. He was respectfully addressed as 'NETA JI'. He was greatly influenced by the ideas of Ram Manohar Lohia ji and joined the socialist movement during the 1950s to fight for the rights of farmers.He was also called 'LITTLE NAPOLEON' by former Prime Minister of India Chaudhary Charan Singh.
He was first elected as an MLA to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly in 1967 and was later imprisoned during the Emergency in 1975.The Samajwadi Party was founded in October 1992, inspired by socialist principles. Netaji served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh three times: from 1989 to 1991, 1993 to 1995, and 2003 to 2007. Under his leadership, policies were implemented to ensure that the poor and backward sections of society lived in harmony, and people from all religions, castes, and social backgrounds contributed to the state's development. He also served as the Defence Minister of India in the United Front government from 1996 to 1998 . Netaji has worked to make the Samajwadi Party a voice for the oppressed and neglected sections of society.Under his leadership, the party has witnessed glorious times, and throughout his life,he continued to inspire all members of the party to work diligently for the welfare of the nation.
